Do I really need another booster? The answer depends on age, risk, and timing | Florida Healthcare Insurance

Health officials claim that the protection afforded by COVID vaccination booster doses wears off with time, and there is a concern for persons who are thought to be most at risk of getting severe COVID. The CDC hasn't specified how quickly people should be lined up for their second boosters. The FDA says these groups are now "eligible" for the vaccinations, but it doesn't say whether they should get them. Some infectious disease experts believe that not everyone in this age range requires a booster dose.

There is emerging evidence of declining vaccine protection against Covid-19 severe disease in elderly and immunocompromised patients who are at least six months past their initial booster, implying that those who were boosted that long ago likely have inadequate protection against current infection. Alternatively, if you've recently had a Covid-19 infection, three shots, or an omicron between December and now, it may be appropriate to wait.
